Moscow Palace of Youth Reconstruction
The main task facing the architects of the WALL bureau was to increase the area of Moscow Youth Palace, while it was necessary to preserve the existing appearance of the palace. Externally, the building will change slightly, the main elements of modernism - concrete and glass, will remain as they were. The windows will be lowered down, due to which the facade will become more transparent and light. The building will be cleared of unnecessary advertising, the square in front of the youth palace will be freed from cars, and art installations will be placed on it. From the side of the park, behind the Moscow Youth Palace, will be built a multi-level cultural center with a frosted glass facade. The material of the facade was not chosen by chance, it is the glass that will visually increase the park space, while the gallery will be as airy as possible. The new cultural center will house workshops, food markets and exhibition areas. The height of the vertical museum will not exceed the main building of the palace, due to which the view of Moscow Youth Palace from Komsomolsky Avenue will preserve its appearance to the maximum. The gallery will be connected with the Youth Palace by a warm overhead passage at the third floor level. The space between the main building and the vertical museum will acquire the function of the town square, where it is also planned to hold exhibitions and performances. During the reconstruction, the area of Moscow Youth Palace will be increased by 10,000 square meters. m The building optimizes internal spaces, it will acquire a clear structure: the perimeter of the Moscow Youth Palace will be given to commercial areas, and the entire central part will perform a cultural function. A universal multimedia space will appear above the existing small and large concert halls. The architects of the WALL bureau are proposing to give the life of the lobby of the palace - to clean it as much as possible and fill it with new scenarios, for example, turn it into a skating rink. Also during the reconstruction they will use the roof - it will become a new urban specific platform. After reconstruction, the Moscow Palace of Youth should become part of the walking route that begins in Gorky Park and goes through the pedestrian Andreyevsky Bridge.
