During the past three years, I have started to photograph musicians in Berlin. The series is a mix of portraits, as well as photographs from their rehearsals and performances. Coming from a documentary photography background, I approach photographing musicians not with a preconceived concept, but rather through observing and spending time with them. Even when taking portraits, there is never a concept for the pictures and I just try to create an atmosphere where the photographs can just happen. Allowing the pictures to be a surprise and sometimes they are even more like a present for the musician as well as for myself.
