General Consulate office of Republic of Croatia
General Consulate office building, also known as „Dom pomoraca“ is placed in historical part in Old city of Kotor, on the Grgurina square, close to Grgurina palace (nowadays known as Pomorski muzej). In the analisys of the old Austro-Hungarian and Venetian documents it is clear this building wasn’t built in XVIII century. By its disposition in urban grid of Old city and its construction features it is concluded that it was constructed in XIX century. It’s 100 years old and represents the part of cultural heritage of the architecture in the Old city of Kotor. We find out there were many interventions on the location and the volume of the building, thanks to the old Venetian and cadastral documents (XVIII and XIX century). After the earthquake happened in 1979., reconstruction works were taken. The building was named as „Dom pomoraca“ and had social and business character. Since the 1979., the Old city of Kotor is under UNESCO heritage protection. Our architectural design presented new use of the reconstruction works and interior use of space of the Consular Office of the Republic of Croatia but also kept the architectural, cultural and historical character of the building.
