God's Angel

As soon as I received the horrible news from Ukraine, this old poem from Matthias Claudius (a well-known German poet from the 18th century) came to my mind, and an inner voice told me to do something. I looked for an appropriate translation all over the web but couldn't find one. So I did it myself, in the hope to gather the essence, the soul of this powerful poem. I dedicate it to all people in the world who stand up against war. Go ahead and share it, if you like. The photograph underlaying the poems was taken by me, some time ago, in a forest not far from my home. It is not digitally altered, but was created directly with my camera via a special technique.
